Job Description

A superb opportunity has arisen for a senior pensions administrator to join this growing and highly respected independent UK pensions consultancy following increasing levels of new business. The role is for a Senior Pensions/Project Administrator and this role reports into the Team Leader and acts as the Team leader in their absence. The following demonstrates the variety and also high level responsibilities of the role which includes staff and project/process management

• Communicate and attend meetings with providers, clients and prospects
• Read, research, and understand Scheme documentation and legislation and translate into a benefit Specification
• Project management and ensuring all activities meet agreed targets
• Perform administration and payroll duties for new client implementations
• Check work of others to ensure accuracy and compliance with Scheme rules, procedures, and legislation
• Work independently and manage own work schedule according to business priorities
• Maintain the in-house pension administration database, prepare manual and computer-generated benefit calculations and related correspondence
• Build a calculation matrix for testing system calculations against expected output
• Use strong data analysis skills
• Prepare reports for trustees advising progress on projects
• Set up traditional or pooled banking arrangements for new clients
• Ensure overseas pensioners are transferred to our preferred overseas bureau
• Show a working knowledge of Project Management Tools and Principles such as PRINCE2
• Demonstrate an understanding of the Pensions Regulator’s record keeping requirements and maintain the in-house pension administration database to ensure data quality standards are met
• Consultancy, project based or committee work as agreed
• Use external services, such as Shared Workspace to assist with GMP reconciliation work
• Liaise with authorities including DWP, HMRC, the Pensions Regulator, and the Information Commissioner
• Ensure that any customer concerns or complaints are processed correctly and raised with appropriate reporting Partners immediately
• Train and support colleagues following development and process improvements
• Build strong, effective client and team relationships
• Identify and provide relevant training
• Liaise across Practice Areas
• Support, Implement and Maintain Information Security procedures and activities in accordance with company’s security policy
• Any other reasonable task as advised from time-to-time
• Act as Team Leader or deputise for the team leader as agreed, or manages a small team
• Support effective team working and encourage the team to look for efficiency gains and opportunities to carry out chargeable project work
• Provide regular updates on project work carried out within the team to Management Team
• Work with the Pension Administration Associate or Partner to ensure that team members are performing effectively, identifying development needs, providing coaching and training where necessary
• Mentoring – provide constructive feedback for others in order to improve their understanding and knowledge and support the development of the individual
• Undertake PDRs for the team

Candidates will ideally have a minimum of 4 years experience in pensions and ideally be studying towards professional pensions. It is essential that candidates have a thorough working knowledge of final salary and money purchase pensions administration, processes and legislation. In addition candidates will have strong IT skills and some project management experience would be advantageous. Candidates will be superb, professional communicators with some supervisory experience
